Yellowstone, Day 1

We spent several nights in West Yellowstone in this fun cabin. It was great, we had 2 full baths, kitchen with cookware and beds for everyone (except Elanor, she slept on the floor on a bunch of blankets). It was great and definitely my kind of camping.

Our clan wearing matching homemade tie-dyed shirts.

Dragun, Jay, Sophie, Shae
Day one we drove around and our first stop was Fountain Paint Pot. There was a walking loop that we all started on but it got too stinky for me (the joys of all day nausea). Debbie and Sarah stayed behind also (they were gimps with a sling and back brace) and the rest walked around and had a great time.

After this hike we all got back into the cars and drove around to Old Faithful. On our drive, the van lost a hub cab, it was kind of startling but it is now part of Yellowstone. When we arrived at Yellowstone we ate our picnic lunch amongst some black crows that were huge and then off to find Old Faithful. By the time we got there it had just gone off so we hung around and watched a film. Elanor was a little chatty during the film and really enjoyed seeing "Bob". Andrew took the boys on a hike while the rest of us waited for Old Faithful. She let off and was a beautiful sight.
The next adventure for the day was to find the falls, there are too a big one and a little one that are rivals of Niagra Falls (if falls can have rivals). We were going to hike to see the big falls but the path was closed (darn) so we just saw the little one and it was magnificent.
Picture of fall and an attempt at family picture.

After this we headed back for the cabin for dinner and for the kiddos to put together a scrapbook of the days events.
Some pictures of scrapbooking taken by Sophie.

The first day in the park was fun, but hot. Stay tuned (and hopefully not too long) for day 2.

(Made me laugh, anyway!)
